America has often been blessed in times of crisis, with principled, moral leaders, directing this nation against history's tyrants and in pursuit of freedom and the rights of man. Men and women with a high regard for the Freedom of the union and the desire to persevere in truth and justice have arisen to answer the call of leadership.
On the way to his first inauguration at Federal Hall in New York City, then the temporary capital of the United States, Washington was well aware of the precedence he was preparing to set for the course of our great nation. During his first inauguration, one such precedence, the Presidential oath, was taken with his hand upon a Bible. Another was the inaugural address, in which Washington spoke with words immersed in a moral context: "No people can be bound to acknowledge and adore the invisible hand which conducts the affairs of men more than those of the United States".
The greatness of a nation hinges on the values its people and leaders embrace. Leaders are positioned to “lead”, and if the leaders stray from morals during their tenure, the greatness of a nation is adversely impacted. Throughout history, religion and the Great Book have been vital in influencing the course of our nation’s Presidents. They have had the courage to stand up and use their voices to embrace God’s name and spread God’s moral laws across the U.S.A.
During the Great Depression, President Franklin D. Roosevelt addressed America's challenging recovery by posting his New Deal in moral principles: "We shall not succeed in solving the problem unless the people of this country hold the spiritual values of the country just as high as they do the economic values”. Ronald Reagan believed, “The Bible can touch our hearts, order our minds, and refresh our souls”.
Yet, in 2010, what of the United States acknowledgement and adoration of the invisible hand in the matters of our country?
Today, the very foundations of our country are under attack as the nation slips into moral bankruptcy. The laws in our land either protect or erode the moral compass of our nation. As laws infringe deeper into the rights of citizens and unconstitutional behavior continues to run rampant amongst Congress, the moral compass of America has shifted, becoming poisoned with political correctness. Forget about integrity, concern for your neighbor, trustworthiness, and morality. These virtues are dumped as self-centered, arrogant, greedy attitudes redefine the American character. In God We Trust is dangerously being replaced with In The Government We Trust.
President Ronald Reagan recognized the hazard of this act when he said: “Our Pledge of Allegiance states that we are ‘one nation under God,’ and our currency bears the motto, ‘In God We Trust.’ The morality and values such faith implies are deeply embedded in our national character. Our country embraces those principles by design, and we abandon them at our peril. Yet in recent years . . . Americans . . . [have] for the sake of religious tolerance . . . forbidden religious practice in the classrooms. The law of this land has effectively removed prayer from our classrooms. How can we hope to retain our freedom through the generations if we fail to teach our young that our liberty springs from an abiding faith in our Creator?”
Since the Supreme Court banned school prayer in 1963:
  • The murder rate has tripled;
  • Violent crime has gone up 544%;
  • Suicide is the 3rd leading cause of death between young people aged 15-24;
  • Television is bombarded with profanity and sexually explicit material;
  • Prior to 1963, divorce had been declining for 15 consecutive years. After 1963, the divorce rate more than doubled
  • Unwed birth rates 10-14 years of age have shot up 553%;
  • Sexually transmitted disease rates (15-19 years of age range) have shot up 226%;
  • Approximately 3,700 unborn children are aborted in America each day;
  • 6,000 years of traditional marriage is now under siege;
  • A battle ensues to create and use human embryos for research and experimentation

In 1983, the U.S. District Court stated, “The First Amendment was never intended to insulate our public institutions from any mention of God, the Bible or religion. When such insulation occurs, another religion, such as secular humanism, is effectively established.”
The REMEDY ~ A change in the current American attitude towards immorality.
Religion provides a moral compass for man in forming virtuous character. Churches have made a significant contribution to the underlying moral and ethical foundation upon which the United States of America was founded and continue to contribute to what has made it a great nation. Churches in the United States to date, remain the primary source of the sense of community in the country. Religion is also still a primary way in which morals and ethics are instilled into young Americans. If America is to remain a great country, appropriate ethics and morals need to be instilled in her youth.
